Inground Pool Builder in Hahira, GA | Custom Design & Installation

Hahira families have something Valdosta yards rarely offer, which is room. Half acre and acre lots, mature pines, and no neighbor close enough to hear the kids. What most of those yards do not have yet is a pool.

In-ground Pool Installation for Hahira Homes

We have been building pools for Hahira families for more than fifty years, back when the drive up US 41 took longer than the trip on I-75 does now. Our work runs through downtown Hahira and the older streets around Hahira Elementary and Middle, out along the GA 122 corridor toward Barney and Lakeland, up through the Cat Creek community, and across the newer homes on the acreage either side of Old US 41.

The mix here is unusual. We build compact pools for tight in-town lots a few blocks off Main Street, and we build large freeform pools with full outdoor living space for families on multi acre properties who moved out this way specifically for the land. Both get the same pool design attention, because a pool that suits a quarter-acre yard is a completely different animal from one built for three acres.

Hahira GA

Our Services

Gunite, fiberglass and vinyl liner pools built to suit the lot. Hahira yards tend to be generous, so we size and shape for the space available rather than squeezing into a corner. Rural sites usually give us clean equipment access, which keeps excavation efficient.

Winter nights out here are quiet and genuinely dark, which makes a spa a different experience than it is in town. We build spillover spas tied into a pool and standalone spas for families who want the soak without the swim.

Larger Hahira lots need planting that reads at a distance rather than up close. We design for scale, screen the pool area from open ground, and choose species that hold up on sandy upland soil with no irrigation to lean on.

Retaining walls, seat walls and steps that define an outdoor space within a big open yard. On acreage properties the challenge is enclosure rather than grade, and structure is what turns a wide lawn into a room.

Machine access is rarely a problem on Hahira properties, which means natural boulder work is genuinely on the table here in a way it is not on tight urban lots. Real stone, set with an excavator, on a proper footing.

Plenty of pools around Hahira date back decades and are on their second or third liner. We measure, order and replace on pools we built and pools we did not, anywhere in north Lowndes County.

Space out here allows the full build rather than a single grill island. Masonry construction, outdoor rated appliances and correctly sized gas, with propane the usual answer on properties beyond the natural gas line.

Hahira has very little ambient light once you leave downtown, which cuts both ways. Landscape lighting reads dramatically against genuinely dark surroundings, and paths and steps actually need lighting because nothing else fills the gap.

Acreage provides adequate clearance from structures and the canopy, so wood-burning builds are straightforward here. We check overhead cover and prevailing smoke direction before setting a position.

Big yards need a defined surface or the furniture ends up floating in the middle of grass. We size the patio to the gathering rather than the house, and cover or screen it where gnats and afternoon sun would otherwise chase everyone inside.

Travertine and light concrete pavers keep the deck walkable barefoot through a north Lowndes July. On older Hahira pools with cracked concrete surrounds, an overlay usually beats demolition on both cost and disruption.

What Makes Building a Pool in Hahira Different?

Hahira sits on higher, better-drained ground than most of Lowndes County. The Tifton upland soils around here shed water more readily than the low-lying Alapaha and Ocilla soils south of Valdosta, so the seasonal high water table that forces dewatering on some south county excavations is generally less of an obstacle here. That is good news for excavation cost and schedule. The complications are different instead.

Many properties outside the city limits run on private wells and septic systems rather than municipal service, which changes both how a pool gets filled and where it can legally sit. It also means propane rather than natural gas for a built-in cooking area, which makes tank position part of the layout conversation rather than an afterthought. A lot of the residential land around Hahira was farmed until fairly recently, which leaves compacted plow layers, old irrigation lines and buried debris that only turn up once a machine is in the ground. We plan for all three before we quote rather than after we dig.

How Much Has Hahira Actually Grown?

Enough to change what gets built here. Hahira counted 2,737 residents in the 2010 census and surpassed 3,000 by 2020, a growth of roughly 17 percent, while it remained small enough that the Honeybee Festival still shuts down Main Street every October.

Lowndes County as a whole recorded 117,406 residents in 2020, and a meaningful share of the county’s newer residential construction has landed in the northern end around Hahira, driven by families commuting to Valdosta and Moody Air Force Base who want more land than the city offers.

Homeownership rates here run well above the county average, which matters for pool demand because owners build and renters do not. The climate does the rest. This part of Georgia averages close to a hundred days above 90 degrees a year and sits in USDA zone 8b, giving a practical swim season from April into October without heating. A wood burning fire pit covers the months either side of that, and on acreage the clearance from structures and canopy is rarely a problem.

Where Else Do We Build Pools?

Hahira sits at the northern end of our home county, so we cover it as routinely as Valdosta itself. From there our work reaches east to Lakeland in Lanier County and Nashville in Berrien County, north to Tifton in Tift County, and northwest to Moultrie in Colquitt County. Everything falls inside roughly a 45 mile radius of Valdosta. If your property sits between towns or you are unsure whether a rural north Lowndes address is covered, call and ask rather than assuming it is out of range.

Should You Build on a Hahira City Lot or a Rural Lot?

Both work, but the projects run differently from the first day. The dividing line is the city limit, and it changes who issues the permit, where the fill water comes from and what dictates the pool’s position in the yard. Neither is harder than the other once you plan for it, and we build regularly on both sides of that line.

FAQs

Can I fill a new pool with well water in Hahira?

Yes, though it should be tested first. Well water drawn from the Floridan Aquifer around here frequently carries dissolved iron and manganese, and running twenty thousand gallons of untreated well water into a brand new pool is how you end up with brown or purple staining on fresh plaster or vinyl. A sequestering agent added during the fill handles most cases. Where iron levels are high, hauling in treated water costs less than resurfacing a stained pool.

Do I get my permit from the City of Hahira or from Lowndes County?

It depends on which side of the city limit your property sits. Addresses inside Hahira city limits permit through the city, while everything outside goes through Lowndes County, and the two have their own setback rules and inspection schedules. Plenty of Hahira mailing addresses are actually county properties. We confirm the jurisdiction against the parcel before filing anything.

Is the seasonal water table a problem for excavation around Hahira?

Less than it is in the southern half of the county. Hahira sits on higher Tifton upland ground that drains better than the low lying soils near the river bottoms south of Valdosta, so full dewatering is needed on fewer sites up here. It is not universal though, and low pockets and land near Cat Creek can still hold water in wet months. We evaluate the specific site rather than assuming the whole area behaves the same way.

Can you build a pool on land that used to be farmed?

Yes, and a lot of what we build around Hahira sits on converted agricultural ground. Old farmland brings its own surprises, mainly compacted plow pans that resist drainage, buried irrigation piping, and occasionally debris left from decades of working the land. None of it stops a pool going in. It does mean the site evaluation matters more, because finding an irrigation main with an excavator bucket is an expensive way to learn it was there.

How quickly can you get to Hahira if something goes wrong?

Hahira is about twelve miles from our Valdosta base, roughly fifteen to twenty minutes up I-75 to Exit 29. That is close enough that we treat it as home territory rather than an outlying service area, and service calls here get scheduled the same way Valdosta calls do. For urgent problems like a failing liner losing water, we prioritize across the whole service area regardless of which town you are in.
